Fiona Kingdon studied Furniture Restoration and Craftsmanship, then worked supporting children with behavioural difficulties. 9 years ago, with a need to return to working wood creatively, she turned to using a scrollsaw to express her art, ranging from silhouettes and layered landscapes, to keepsake jewellery.
In a world full of now full of laser and cnc batch produced composite wooden articles, Fiona is determined to carry on skilfully make something that’s beautiful and one of a kind.
So, she creates art pieces suggested by the the grain of the wood itself, the landscapes she loves or simply weaves the beauty of timber into her designs. Working with solid, native or rescued timbers, Fiona fashions intricate images that emerge over many hours of hand carving and cutting with a scrollsaw.
