Elaine King Ceramics
Description
After teaching ceramics and art for over 30 years I am finally making an exciting journey as a ceramic artist. As a newcomer to a small business, I am still teaching some adult workshops from my garden studio. I have developed my own hand-built techniques and designs in both functional and sculptural ceramics and I work in white stoneware clay and use a palette of subtle oxides and underglaze colours. . My work derives from particular influences sourced in texture, colour and pattern through nature and the natural landscape. My mainly hand-built pieces demonstrate my love of colour and design, mostly inspired by surfaces and patterns found typically in English habitats; hedgerows, garden borders, meadow and more recently forests and woods. I enjoy devoting time making studies in my garden or from walks along the Cornish coastline, one of my most favourite places in the world, from these studies I develop my own surface patterns.
I am an Associate Member of the Craft Potters Association.
