Fiona Hutchinson

My passions for colour, food and sharing time with family and friends all play their part in my fascination with jewellery, and particularly gemstones.  I first became captivated by these colourful, sparkling wonders as a little girl, looking through my grandmother’s jewellery box.  From this, I developed a love of gemstones and the desire to learn more, so I studied and qualified as a gemologist with Gem-A (The Gemological Association of Great Britain).  I adore creating pieces using gems, especially stones with classic incisions typical to the gem.  My work is focused around the ‘handmade’ and ‘organic’, which makes it imperfectly perfect.  Many of the pieces in my collections are inspired by my love of food, for example, peppercorn necklaces, coffee bean rings, and the deliciously exquisite Silver Nutmeg and a Golden Pear.  For 15 years I have continued to enjoy the tuition and enthusiasm of a variety of talented jewellers, and, indeed, I am still learning.  In 2019 I had the exciting news that one of my jewellery pieces was shortlisted for Goldsmiths’ Make Your Mark Awards.
