Frances Noon
Description
I make small mixed-media sculptures and jewellery.
My sculptures feature animals and birds, some as single pieces set on a small plinth, some as part of larger constructions.
I have woodland themes that feature birds perched in trees observed by a fox or a hare or a deer.
My single animals include my version of cats, mice, hares, donkeys, horses, goats, highland coos & alpaca.
The sheds are flattened wall hung pieces that have 3d ornaments such as garden tools and flowers with doors that open to reveal a cat or maybe a hen.
I also make a small range of boats all navigated by cats, owls & gulls.
The metal component of my works are all hand cut & stamped from brass & copper combined with wooden elements. Each piece is made by hand so I can change the details & my creatures tend to take on individual characters.
I produce everything in my workshop at home in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. I teach a jewellery evening class locally and I work 1 day a week at a garden nursery which is also a day centre for adults with learning disabilities. My work sells through many galleries across the UK and I also exhibit at craft fairs.
