Nancy Power Printmaker
Description
I have been working as a linocut artist for over seven years now, after a 30 year career in the textiles and clothing industry. Following a redundancy in 2016, I decided to go full time as an artist; making prints, participating in many fairs and exhibitions, and delivering workshops in my studio and with community groups.
My main focus is creating ‘reduction’ linocut prints, this is the method I have used for nearly all my work. The absolute decision making required with each layer is exciting and also petrifying, but it is all part of the process of printmaking.
The images I create are primarily landscapes, showing countryside as well as coastal scenes. During lockdown I created a more abstract images using one shape repeated many times, to symbolise the seeming never-ending days.
