I find colour is like an explosion of happiness, it’s a very pure thing. Painting is like playing, and you can work things out without thinking. I suppose my paintings are, on one level, the inside of my head on canvas as I’m not consciously painting anything exterior like a sunset or a feeling… I’m in the moment. But on another they are about all our experiences of colour.

I have been a professional actor since 1977 and started my painting degree in 2016 when my son went to university.
