The Peacock & The Printmaker

One afternoon in my studio, I was going through my test prints and misprints and wondering what to do with them all. I don’t like waste but I also don’t have endless space to house these items and I certainly didn’t want to throw them in the recycling bin. Many of the imperfections were little catches from the outside of the block and had no impact on the main item that had been printed and it’s these items that I have breathed new life into to create a small range of one off pieces.

The sunflowers came from my Monthly Mini Florals Collection. I didn’t know what the piece would become at first, I just started cutting them out. As the piled up, they reminded me of photographs I’d seen of vast sunflower fields and that’s where the idea of introducing a 3 dimensional element came from.

Created from 3 misprints and a specially prepared watercolour background, ‘Sunflower Field’ oozes summer sunshine and is sure to make you smile all year round.

The piece is ready framed in a beech box frame which features both a stand and a hook for hanging so you can decide how to display it. The frame measures 25 x 25cm.
