Julia Linstead, Glass
Description
All my glass is hand blown in coloured 24% lead crystal onto which I sandblast my patterns into the surface of the glass.
Each bowl is hand formed so size and shape vary within 3 basic styles – dishes, tall and deep bowls. As my imagery is also hand drawn every piece I make is unique and I will evolve my patterns over time to keep them fresh.
My patterns are inspired by natural themes, usually fish, flowers, insects and some animals. I am happy to consider commissions.
I use a subtle palette of colours through which I sandblast the design. Most bowls have a single layer of coloured glass blown into the surface but I also use multiple layers especially for bowls with more intricate patterns.
For trade buyers I have a minimum order of 3 bowls and a lead time of up to 8 weeks.
I have been making glassware for over 30 years and have been based in the Scottish Borders since 1993.
My work has been exhibited across the world and is in several public and many private collections
